I have a Logitech USB Headset which makes very much trouble in Linux environment. Sometimes it is not detected properly where I have to restart the Pulse Audio system.
Restarting it solves all detection problem. Just give following command in a Terminal as normal user. Remember not as a root.
pulseaudio --kill && pulseaudio --start
This will solve all problems. How ever if USB was not switched automatically just click on sound icon and select the output device and input device as head phone.
